Doreen King is a Strategist, Programme Manager and PMI certified Project Management Professional. She is currently a graduate student at the Harvard Kennedy School where she is pursuing her Mid Career Masters in Public Administration in the Edward S. Mason Fellowship program. She is the Founder and Chair of Caribbean Coalition at HKS, a caucus of students and industry experts who are committed to the region's sustainable development; creating contemporary solutions to the Caribbean's problems and; utilizing HKS resources to make a positive impact in the region.
During this course of study, she also completed the Harvard's Economic Development, Public Leadership and Public Policy: Implementing Public Policy Executive Program; Mason Certificate in Public Policy and Management; Management, Leadership, Decision Sciences Certificate Program; Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Child Protection Certificate Program; Harvard Innovation Labs Start-It and Build-It Venture Programs and launched Vilij, a micro-funding initiative. Doreen is currently enrolled in From Harvard Square to Oval Office: A Political Campaign Practicum, a non-partisan initiative of the Women in Public Policy Program at HKS.
Prior to Harvard Kennedy School, she pursued a career in the Financial Services industry, working for several years in the Legal and Regulatory Group at Bridgewater Associates and previously in the Global Markets NY Rates Transaction Management and Strategy, Projects and Performance Groups at Deutsche Bank and Equities/Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities at Goldman Sachs during and following her undergraduate studies at Baruch College. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in ad-hoc studies focused on Mathematics and Statistics.
At Deutsche Bank, Doreen received the Deutsche Bank Rare Award in recognition of her creating a program to assist new Graduate Program trainees with their transition from students to permanent employees, to foster cross training and inter-departmental project collaboration.
While at Baruch College, she founded United International Student Body which advocated for international student rights and opportunities throughout the CUNY system; represented Baruch at CUNY Women's Leadership Conference and Workshops and held the role of Non-Teaching Mathematics and Statistics Adjunct. She received numerous awards for academic achievements, leadership and community service including Robert A. Martinez Scholarship Award, Solomon Toubin Memorial Scholarship, Baruch College Excellence Scholarships, Goldman Sachs Scholarship for Excellence, Golden Key Honor Society Sophomore Recognition Award, Belle Zeller Excellence Scholarships, First Data Western Union Scholarship, University Student Senate Merit Scholarship and maintained placement on the Dean's List, throughout.
Doreen also serves as KEYS Program Director, Math and Language Arts instructor and Reading Buddy. She is the creative mind behind KEYS programmes and initiatives and actively recruits volunteers and donors throughout the Diaspora to give back to the Caribbean.
Prior to migrating to the USA, Doreen attended Harrison College in Barbados, where she was born and raised.
