Our school continues to seek solutions to help students who are experiencing difficulties in literacy. Out of this desire the FUNdamental Reading Program (FRP) was established in order to utilize the advantages of differential teaching and learning.
All pupils are assessed at the end of the third term. For those who are experiencing significant challenges with reading and written expression, whose results indicate that remedial help is needed, the FRP provides systematic and direct assistance in the upcoming school year. Specific Language Arts instruction is provided for these pupils for three timetabled sessions during the week. An auxiliary space that is the platform in the school hall area currently functions as the home of the FRP. A maximum of six pupils, a modest library and display area for charts and other stimulus material can be accommodated in this space.
The purpose of the FUNdamental Reading Program is to:
• Help students understand that reading should be a fun activity.
• Encourage students to participate in more reading activities.
• Enhance students’ aptitude in phonemic awareness.
• Help students become independent readers.
• Improve students’ focus and concentration levels.
• Improve students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Expand students’ default vocabulary .
• Help students to orally express their thoughts in an articulate manner.
• Improve students’ writing skills.
What we need to make the FUNdamental Reading Program a reality:
• A well-presented physical working and learning space that is the ‘home’ of the FRP.
• Acquisition of all materials, stationery and peripherals that are required to facilitate the program.

STEAM Education is an internationally recognized approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for stimulating and providing opportunities for students to inquire, have opportunities to dialogue and develop critical thinking skills.
We are committed to involving all pupils in the continued promotion of the STEAM programs. There is now an established online-remote learning platform available to schools since the Covid19 pandemic forced a move away from the physical classroom. The establishment of online learning has led to fast-tracking the use of technology and associated electronic devices within school systems. The online platform is ideal for setting up clubs and disseminating information outside of class time. The teachers, as the main facilitators of learning, will have access to the materials that are needed to support the entire process. Facilitators and skilled personnel from external agencies and jurisdictions can teach, train and demonstrate processes to teachers and pupils using online settings.
The purpose of the STEAM Education Enhancement Program is to:
• Identify and provide clear pathways for all pupils (3 -4 years to 9 -10 years) to have learning opportunities in General and Agricultural Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Arts suite.
• Provide practical ways for pupils to develop positive attitudes towards the subjects, topics and methodologies that encompass STEAM.
• Provide STEAM topic modules that can be replicated at home, thereby involving families in the pupils’ learning experiences.
• Highlight the practical relationship between the modules taught in the classroom and the natural occurrence of STEAM elements in daily living.
• Make linkages between and among the subjects that comprise STEAM by involving associated skills like collaborating, explaining and predicting.
• Clearly make space in the school’s offerings for quality attention to be placed on Mathematics, General Science, Agricultural Science, Visual Arts & Craft, Creative Dance & Drama, Oral Language Arts Expression, Technology as a System-wide Platform, Technology for use by Teachers, Technology for Utilization by Pupils, Engineering Concept Awareness, Engineering Concept Learning and Practicums.
What we need to make the STEAM Education Enhancement Program a reality:
• Acquisition of all materials, stationery and peripherals that are required to facilitate the program.
